Meningitis: Medicines for Seizures
Topic Overview
Medicines can be used to treat seizures caused by
meningitis. They include:
- Phenytoin
(Dilantin).
- Phenobarbital (Luminal).
- Benzodiazepines. These include clonazepam (Klonopin).
These medicines are used short-term. You stop using them when the seizures are no longer a problem.
