The Mexican beaded lizard and the Gila monster are two types of
poisonous (venomous) lizards found in North America. These large lizards have
thick, fleshy tails and short, powerful limbs. The Mexican beaded lizard lives
in desert regions in northern Mexico and along the coast into northern
Guatemala. The Gila monster lives in desert regions of southwestern United
States and northern Mexico.
