Skinfold measurement is a technique to estimate how much fat is on the body. It involves using a device called a caliper to lightly pinch the skin and underlying fat in several places.
This quick and simple method of estimating body fat requires a high level of skill to get accurate results. Skinfold measurement is best used when comparing results from one measurement to the next, rather than relying on the results of a single measurement. To compare results from one time to another, it is best to have the same person do the measurements each time.
