Cardiac rehabilitation (rehab) is a supervised program that uses exercise, education, and support to help people recover from a heart attack, heart surgery, or other heart problems. Cardiac rehab programs are medically supervised and individually designed based on a person's needs and overall health.
Cardiac rehab may help you:
- Have better overall health and a better quality of life.
- Lower your risk for a heart attack or dying from heart disease.
- Recover well after surgery.
- Manage your symptoms.
- Feel more hopeful and less depressed, stressed, or worried.
- Have more energy and return to your usual activities.
